We moved the San Fransisco meetings to a different location, and rightfully so. This should have been moved when we had a chance, even at a financial loss. Hopefully we won’t make the same mistake again, and
I’m only replying to this thread because I hope to send a signal here that this is not acceptable. (Not to mention Section 377A in their penal code).

It’s really awesome when you learn about the country from Wikipedia articles. Yes, there are formal restrictions on drug imports – just like for every country in the world. Ole just sent a link to FDA, so the grand ole U S of A has the same legislation. It’s targeted at being able to catch traffickers, not ordinary people.

Yes, Section 377A exists for historic and cultural reasons (you have to be mindful of Singapore’s surroundings, heritage and history), and hasn’t been enforced in ages. But then, there’s also this: http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/pink-dot-rally-draws-thousands-of-people

Singapore is a very specific country, and it takes more than a cursory look over Wikipedia articles or sensationalist click baits (“Items you take for granted that are illegal in Singapore – you MUST see this!!”) to understand its intrinsic values and culture. As a well-integrated foreigner, I’d be very happy to actually talk about this if anyone would be interested – it’s not at all technical, but if there’s interest maybe we can organise an ad hoc session to get acquainted with Singapore, its values, controversies, and myriads of ways they tried to keep an iron grip on the society while acknowledging and integrating so many different peoples, cultures and beliefs. Reply to me directly if it’s something you’d like to hear (or talk) about, and let’s see what we can do. There’s more to Singapore than meets the eye :)

Cheers,

Harry
