A variation of the original question: what about an IPv6-capable mobile provider ?

    Thanks all.

For those who are going the route of getting a local Singaporean prepaid
    SIM card:

Looks like that https://topup.starhub.com/preorder/ is a great deal.
From the website, it appears that the $18 credit can be used for 2x
    7-day 1GB data plans @ $7 each = $14, with $4 to spare for SMS or other
miscellaneous charges? And it gives you a local Singaporean number, for
as long as it lasts (so to speak...well, specifically, 180 days, but the
fine print says it can be extended with a top-up)?

That one seems better than the M1 tourist card (identical to Klook link
I originally posted), in that the M1 tourist card seems to die in 5 days
or 10 days, with no renewal possibility.

    > I was looking at https://topup.starhub.com/preorder/ - S$15 gives 15GB for the first five days, and the accompanying S$18 credit is enough for another 2GB over the subsequent seven days, which is more time than I'll be in Singapore. That's worlds more data than I'm likely to use, so I primarily care about having enough time. My US SIM will give me SMS regardless (and calling can be saved for Wi-Fi), and I have a dual-SIM phone, so I'm also only considering data rates.

However, my experience with international SIM cards has been that when I replace the SIM in my iPhone, my regular number in iMessage gets deleted after a certain period of time (sometimes instantly), which is a huge hassle because then nobody can message me the usual way until after I return to the US. I am not sure if there is some workaround for that behavior, to keep the iMessages flowing. I suppose there is no way to keep the SMS messages flowing, short of leaving a phone plugged in, in the US, and having the phone forward the SMS messages elsewhere. Phone calls, of course, can be forwarded to other numbers fairly easily.
