Last sentence is not correct according to the US CBP: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1295/~/using-global-entry-card-in-the-sentri-or-nexus-lanes .  That page says that there's no special Global Entry activation for land entry beyond the overall activation needed to use Global Entry at airports to enter the US (which includes US pre-clearance at the Montreal airport for flights to the US).  SENTRI (from Mexico) requires vehicle preregistration, NEXUS (to/from Canada) does not.  Also, (as noted above) Global Entry by itself (no NEXUS card) only allows NEXUS lane usage when entering the US - in that situation, one has to use regular lanes to enter Canada by land.  Isn't bureaucracy wonderful :-)??
