The best travel tip for many Americans living in the northeast, especially New England, would be to drive to Montreal.  Even better, take the Morses Line Border Crossing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morses_Line_Border_Crossing) along with the other 80 cars a DAY.  Sometimes, you don't even have to come to a full stop; they just wave you through.

It's a 4 1/2 hour drive from around Boston (7 if you avoid all highways) which beats the heck out of flying in cost and time.  And it's really pretty.
