poor client UX in pidgin.

I have seen some clients in some IMs systems (I can't recall which), where
the outgoing message it placed at the bottom of the window, with a colour/box
around it, indicating that it's still outgoing.

I assume that my client was busy renegotiating a TCP connection during the
interval, but hasn't quite gotten around to telling me that it had failed,
because it was still in progress.
