Yep.

Now imagine the people at the speaking end would take care as much (i.e., just a little).

E.g., compare Lars’ muffled appearance in the plenary yesterday with Jay’s highly intelligible speech.
I had no trouble understanding either, but it required significantly more effort to understand the from-under-a-wool-blanket sound.
Mental capacity you need to invest in sheer understanding is then not available for processing what was said.
It is so easy to be a more effective speaker...
