We received a report that an IETF participant was hit from behind with an object last night while walking near City Hall. None of his belongings were taken and he is not seriously injured, but obviously this was a scary and possibly dangerous situation.

Please keep in mind that Philadelphia is a big city and, as with any urban area, there exists some level of crime in all areas. Please be aware of your surroundings and please be mindful that you can go from a safe to less-safe neighborhood in just a couple of blocks. Understand where you're going, and how you'll get there. Information on local crime is published by the Philadelphia police at https://www.phillypolice.com/crime-maps-stats/. The Philadelphia Inquirer also published crime data, available at https://data.philly.com/philly/crime/

We want you to explore the city safely, and we recommend that you walk with colleagues whenever possible. We also strongly recommend that you remove your meeting badge when outside of the venue.
