Hello!

This is the third message of a series to bring you information about the
IETF that will help you as a new participant.

During the IETF meeting week, there are many events that are structured
specifically for new participants and events that are for everyone. We
encourage you to participate in as many of these as you can.

-Hackathon (Saturday - Sunday)
Onsite and Remote
The IETF hackathon is used to encourage developers and subject matter
experts to discuss, collaborate, and develop utilities, ideas, sample
code, and solutions that show practical implementations of IETF
standards. Registration required. See the following for more
information:
https://wiki.ietf.org/en/meeting/115/hackathon

-New Participants’ Overview (Sunday)
Onsite and Remote
This session is a review of the New Participants’ Overview Presentation
and provides new participants with information on how the IETF works,
what to expect at a meeting and much more. This session will be
available via Meetecho and will be linked from the agenda.

-Quick Connections (Sunday)
Onsite
New Participants’ Quick Connections is a simple and effective way for
you to be introduced to a variety of experienced IETF attendees — often
working group chairs — who can help you get more involved in your
areas of interest. To RSVP, please go to your attendee dashboard by
using your unique confirmation number
A direct link to your dashboard is also available in your confirmation
email.

-Welcome Reception (Sunday)
Onsite
This is an informal reception. There are no presentations. It’s a
chance to meet other attendees, make some connections, and chat about
the upcoming week.
Refreshments will be provided.

-Hot RFC (Sunday)
Onsite and Remote
This session is for lightning talks about new ideas, proposals and
research topics. This session will be available via Meetecho and will be
linked from the agenda.

-Technology Deep Dive (Session 1 on Monday, Session 2 on Tuesday)
Onsite and Remote
These sessions will cover in detail the operational realities and
technical nuances of QUIC, the new Internet transport technology. See
the following for more information:
https://www.ietf.org/live/ietf115-tdd/

-Systers Networking event (Monday)
Onsite
This is an opportunity to meet and mingle with other Systers to share
advice and collaborate.
For information about Systers, please see:
https://www.ietf.org/about/groups/ietf-systers/
Light breakfast will be available.

-New Participant Dinner (Monday)
Onsite
This is an informal dinner for new participants to connect. There is a
$15.00 entrance fee as this is not an IETF funded event. This dinner is
organized by the IETF secretariat.
To RSVP, please go to your attendee dashboard by using your unique
confirmation number
(https://registration.ietf.org/115/attendee-dashboard/YOURREGISTRATION#/)
A direct link to your dashboard is also available in your confirmation
email.

-Plenary (Wednesday)
Onsite and Remote
The plenary session is an opportunity for the IETF leadership to share
updates on administrative and operational topics with the community.
There is an open microphone portion of the session where community
participants can ask questions.

-Systers Happy Hour (Thursday)
Onsite
This is another opportunity to catch up with other Systers to share how
your IETF meeting week went. Refreshments will be provided.

-New Participants’ Social Hour (Thursday)
Onsite
This event is for new participants. Come join us to chat about how your
IETF week went!
Refreshments will be provided.
