Hello New Participants!

A few reminders…..

Suggested IETF 119 Sessions for Getting Familiar with New Topics
For some of you, your schedule may already be set. Perhaps you are presenting at a working group session.  Some may be traveling with colleagues that have been to IETF meetings before.  However, many new participants are not sure which sessions to attend at their first IETF meeting.  Check out the blogpost that highlights some of the Working Group meetings that may be of interest at IETF 119:

For those of you signing up for the Guides Program, your guides will also be able to make suggestions for which working group sessions may fit with your interests.

Sunday Activities at IETF 119

Sunday is the busiest day for new participants.  There are sessions offered to help give an overview of the IETF, a test session for the conferencing platform Meetecho and much more.  Check out the schedule below.

Registration Hours 
9:30 - 18:00    
Come check-in, get your badge and say hello!

Tutorial: New Participants’ Overview
12:30 - 13:30
This session gives you an overview of the IETF and how the meeting works.  

Meetecho Introduction and Testing
13:30 - 14:30
This session in an introduction to the basics of Meetecho, the conferencing platform used by the IETF.  If you are not able to make the testing sessions prior to the Brisbane meeting, this will give you an opportunity to learn how to navigate the tool.  It will also allow you to test your audio and video.

New Participants’ Quick Connections
16:00 - 17:00
Quick connections is an opportunity for new participants to meet experienced IETF participants and ask questions.  They provide help with suggesting working groups you may be interested in going to based on your goals for this meeting.  It is a great way to meet a lot of people in a short period of time.

Welcome to Country
17:00 - 17:15
A Welcome to Country is a ceremony performed by a local Aboriginal person of significance to welcome visitors and acknowledge the event taking place on their traditional lands. The Welcome to Country at IETF 119 will be given by the Turrbal people.

Welcome Reception
17:15 - 19:00
Enjoy meeting other IETF participants while enjoying food and beverages.
Note: This reception will have a cash bar

HOT RFC Lightning Talks
18:00 - 20:00 
If you have an idea, problem space, or proposal that IETF and IRTF participants should hear about, this is a great place to present!
