Welcome to IETF 120 Vancouver! We currently have 1370 registered participants, 823 of whom are traveling to our excellent venue in Vancouver. For remote participants, we again aim to provide a high quality remote experience tightly integrated with the onsite participation. Thank you to all of you that have registered for this meeting! IETF 120 is hosted by IETF Global Host Huawei. A big thank you to Huawei and our meeting sponsors for making this meeting possible. Full details of our sponsors are below. For onsite participants, there are some updates below that you should be aware of, and then below that a table of general information for all participants. Meeting network The meeting network with connectivity provided by Telus, is available at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. In the meeting space, the primary SSID is “ietf” and continues to require the password “ietfietf.” In the guest rooms and public spaces throughout the hotel, use the open SSID "ietf-hotel”. The IETF Network Operations Center (NOC) webpage <https://meeting.ietf.org/> provides further details, including more information about the meeting network. IT Support is available next to the IETF 120 registration desk if you need assistance. Potential Strike at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver The Hyatt does not have confirmed details, however there is the possibility that a Job Action Strike may take place during the IETF 120 meeting week. There was a Job Action Strike last week that had minimal impact on guests and events. We have been assured that service for the IETF community is a top priority, and that they are confident they can execute our event with minor disruptions. The services impacted will be dependent on the date that is chosen for the strike should the union proceed. As more information becomes available we will continue to update the community. Welcome and Farewell receptions The Welcome Reception on Sunday evening starting at 17:00 PDT in Regency A/B/C on the 3rd floor will begin with a land acknowledgement, which is a statement that recognizes both the land and the indigenous people who lived and continue to live on the land. The Farewell Reception will be from 17:15-18:15 PDT on Friday in Regency C/D, with beverages and light appetizers provided. This is a chance at the end of the meeting to unwind and say goodbye to friends and colleagues. Sustainable Badges We are continuing the experiment with new badge material to reduce waste and plastic usage. In the event that your name badge breaks, or becomes weathered, you can get a replacement at the registration desk. We will be tracking how many replacements we issue throughout this experiment. A single badge will be provided for participants who have registered for both the IETF 120 meeting and the IETF Hackathon. Hydration Stations The IETF 120 venue offers water stations throughout meeting room areas. We encourage meeting participants to travel with refillable water bottles to reduce reliance on single-use plastic bottles. We will not be offering still water during break times. T-shirts Meeting t-shirts will be provided in the size you requested if you registered prior to the final agenda being published. Those who registered after that date are not guaranteed a shirt in their size. Remote participants (and anyone else) can purchase an IETF 120 meeting t-shirt on the IETF Store <https://store.ietf.org/>. Board Game Night Please join us for IETF 120 Board Game Night on Tuesday, 23 July 2024 from 18:45-23:00 PDT in the Grouse room on the 34th floor. While not a replacement for the social event (IETF 120 will not have a hosted social event), Board Game Night provides an opportunity to come together and play board games while enjoying light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Board games and puzzles will be provided. We plan to offer games that vary in difficulty and game play length, such as Uno and Bananagrams, as well as more difficult ones such as Cascadia and Planet Unknown. We encourage you to bring any of your own games as well. After Board Game Night, the Grouse room will be available throughout the week to continue your gaming adventures. Shared Workspace (previously Lounge and Terminal Room) We are continuing to combine the lounge and the terminal room into a single Shared Workspace located in Brighton/Constable on the 4th floor. Lounge furniture and seating areas are available throughout the Hyatt Regency Vancouver for side conversations as well. Destination Vancouver “Show your badge” Program While we recommend stashing your badge out of sight when you leave the venue, do consider bringing it along while you explore Vancouver. Destination Vancouver’s show your badge program <https://www.destinationvancouver.com/meeting/explore-the-city/show-your-badge/> offers discounts to IETF 120 participants on a wide variety of experiences, shopping and restaurants. For more information see: IETF Sponsors IETF meetings would not be possible without the support of our sponsors <https://www.ietf.org/support-us/donors/>. Thank you to our Gold Diversity and Inclusion sponsors, Akamai and Huawei; our Gold Running Code sponsor, Ericsson; Bronze Diversity and Inclusion sponsors, Comcast, ICANN, NBCUniversal and Verisign; Bronze Running Code sponsor, CNNIC, ICANN, and Bronze Open Internet sponsor DENIC. The Connectivity sponsor for IETF 120 is Telus. This 120all@ietf.org <mailto:120all@ietf.org> list is used for administrative announcements by the IETF Chair, the Secretariat, the NOC, and myself, the IETF Executive Director. Again, and on behalf of the whole team: welcome and we hope you have a productive meeting. -- Jay Daley IETF Executive Director GENERAL MEETING INFORMATION Registration and Datatracker account In order to participate in IETF 120 Vancouver you must be registered and have a Datatracker account.
