Thank you to our meeting host Juniper for organizing a Host Speaker series talk at IETF 122. We hope you can attend! Topic: Traffic Engineering, redux Speaker: Kireeti Kompella, Chief Engineer, WAN BU, at Juniper Networks Logistics: Day: Thursday, 20 March Time: 11:45 - 12:45 ICT Room: Chitlada 3 Lunch provided on first come first serve basis Summary: Traffic Engineering (TE) allows a significant degree of control over how traffic is routed within a network. Some don’t care a whit about TE; others care deeply; yet others wonder if it’s worth the management overhead (and what they may be giving up). In this talk, I will start by looking at current ways of managing traffic in networks and a false dichotomy therein. I will then introduce a new approach to TE that resolves this dichotomy, yielding a much more powerful method of managing traffic. I’ll talk a little about how this works (but for that, you should really read the draft) and conclude with future exploration and implementation plans.
