Welcome to IETF 122 Bangkok! IETF 122 is hosted by IETF Global Host, Juniper Networks. A big thank you to Juniper Networks and sponsors for making this meeting possible. We currently have 1232 registered participants, 739 of whom are traveling to Bangkok and 493 participating via our high-quality remote experience tightly integrated with the onsite participation. Thank you to all of you that have registered for this meeting! On behalf of the whole team: welcome and we hope you have a productive meeting. Host Speaker Series Join us on Thursday, 20 March from 11:45 to 12:45 for a talk by Kireeti Kompella, Chief Engineer, WAN BU, at Juniper Networks in Chilada 3 and in Meetecho for remote participants. The focus of this talk is Traffic Engineering, redux. Lunch will be served for onsite participants on a first come first serve basis. “Traffic Engineering (TE) allows a significant degree of control over how traffic is routed within a network. Some don’t care a whit about TE; others care deeply; yet others wonder if it’s worth the management overhead (and what they may be giving up). In this talk, I will start by looking at current ways of managing traffic in networks and a false dichotomy therein. I will then introduce a new approach to TE that resolves this dichotomy, yielding a much more powerful method of managing traffic. I’ll talk a little about how this works (but for that, you should really read the draft) and conclude with future exploration and implementation plans.” IETF Sponsors IETF meetings would not be possible without the support of our sponsors <https://www.ietf.org/support-us/donors/>. In addition to our Global Host Juniper Networks, we want to thank our Gold Diversity and Inclusion sponsors, Akamai and Huawei; our Gold Running Code sponsor, Ericsson; Bronze Diversity and Inclusion sponsors, Comcast and ICANN; Bronze Running Code sponsors, CNNIC and ICANN; Bronze Open Internet sponsors DENIC and Nominet, and Bronze Sustainability sponsor NTT. We are also grateful for the local support: Connectivity sponsors BKNIX, True Business, and Symphony; Local supporters Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and THNICF. This list This 122all@ietf.org list is used for administrative announcements by the IETF Chair, the Secretariat, the NOC, and myself, the IETF Executive Director. The 122attendees@ietf.org <mailto:122attendees@ietf.org> list is for attendees to interact including sharing experiences and asking questions about local facilities. — Below are updates specifically for onsite participants. Below the onsite specific updates is a table which includes general information for all participants. — Meeting network The IETF NOC (Network Operations Center) encourages you to try the new “ietf-ipv6-mostly” (password: ietfietf) WiFi SSID at IETF 122. This implements the “IPv6-Only Preferred Option” [RFC 8925], which still supports IPv4, if needed, via translation mechanisms. This service is planned to be deployed on the default SSID for the IETF 123 Madrid meeting. Hydration Stations The IETF 122 venue offers water stations throughout meeting room areas. We encourage meeting participants to travel with refillable water bottles to reduce reliance on single-use plastic bottles. We will not be providing single-use bottles of still water. Lunch Options There are plenty of lunch options in the vicinity detailed on a Google map <https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1Qe0KZ5BfXxiy9Feb2aq8N1xVp9iYBwE&ll=13.734435961407984%2C100.5631488304156&z=15>. This map also shows two malls within walking distance, Emsphere and Emporium, with plenty of lunch options. The Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is also offering a discount to IETF participants. There will be a food and beverage concierge desk near the IETF registration desk. If participants make a reservation at the concierge desk they will receive a discount of 20% at all Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park restaurants and bars. If a participant does not make a reservation but shows their badge at any restaurant or bar, they will receive a 15% discount. T-shirts Meeting t-shirts will be provided in the size you requested if you registered prior to the final agenda being published. Those who registered after that date are not guaranteed a shirt in their size. You can purchase an IETF 122 meeting t-shirt on the IETF Store <https://store.ietf.org/shop/ietf-121-meeting-t-shirts/EVBZ57JWGT4D6LRKSUXBA6VV>. Navigation in the Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Floors 2, 3, and 4 are accessible through both the North and South tower elevators and via the escalators. The 5th floor is only accessible via an escalator from the 4th floor. The 7th floor is only accessible via the North tower elevators. Board Game Night - special Jeopardy edition! Join the IETF 122 Board Game Night on Tuesday, 18 March 2025 from 19:00-23:00 in Meeting Room 6 on the 7th floor of the Marriott Queens Park. Board Game Night is an opportunity to come together and play board games while enjoying light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. We’re also excited to announce that we will be offering two rounds of Jeopardy hosted by 4-time daily champion and Tournament of Champions Jeopardy player Suresh Krishnan—who is also a current Internet Architecture Board member! **Pre-registration is required, so please sign-up via your participant dashboard <https://registration.ietf.org/participant-dashboard/>:** Play requires a laptop, so please bring your laptop to Game Night if you sign up for Jeopardy. -- Jay Daley IETF Executive Director GENERAL MEETING INFORMATION Registration and Datatracker account In order to participate in IETF 122 Bangkok you must be registered and have a Datatracker account.
