The IESG has approved the following document:
- 'IPv6 Backbone Router'
  (draft-ietf-6lo-backbone-router-20.txt) as Proposed Standard

This document is the product of the IPv6 over Networks of
Resource-constrained Nodes Working Group.

The IESG contact persons are Éric Vyncke and Suresh Krishnan.

A URL of this Internet Draft is:

Technical Summary

This document updates RFC 6775 and RFC 8505 in order to enable proxy
services for IPv6 Neighbor Discovery by Routing Registrars called
Backbone Routers. Backbone Routers are placed along the wireless
edge of a Backbone, and federate multiple wireless links to form a
   single MultiLink Subnet.

Working Group Summary

This draft has evolved from early days of 6lo group and has gone through
13 iterations as a workgroup draft since 2016. It has received and incorporated
reviews from 6lo, ROLL, RPL and 6man experts.

Document Quality

A prototype implementation exists in closed source (Cisco IOS).
One major vendor has indicated plans to implement the draft in
shipping product.

The document required a detailed review from 6man that was done and version -13
was updated with the comments received.

Personnel

The Document shepherd is Shwetha Bhandari. The Responsible AD is Suresh Krishnan.
