Dear all:

As you know, the 6BBR is an ND proxy for the wireless devices.
As it goes, even if together the 6BBRs represent a distributed database of all the wireless devices, the capability to lookup that database is still missing.
The proposal on the table is to have eth 6BBR also act as a 6LR and use a central 6LBR on the backbone to register all the addresses with the proxied MAC.
This way, the 6LBR can be looked up and the NS(Lookup) message can be unicast.

https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-thubert-6lo-unicast-lookup-00 describes the way to deploy and query the 6BBR for DAD and Lookup.
The feature can coexist with the classical multicast NS(Lookup). It is not limited to wireless addresses, all nodes on the backbone including fxed servers can benefit from it.
By avoiding the multicast on the backbone, the unicast look up change sthe scalability of the whole network.

Comments are welcome, on the 6lo list.

All the best,

Pascal
