Well, the advantages of being face-to-face aside, I think there are ways
to improve the remote experience for those who have recently had their
travel budgets cut. The plenary was WebEx'ed so that you could follow
both the audio and the slides. WebEx can also be recorded, so that you
can play back the audio in the future AND know what slide they were
talking about. There's also an ability to do video with WebEx, but to
me - that's less important. With WebEx, you can also vote and chat -
and have the chat log saved as part of the WebEx session. What do we
say about expanding this plenary experiment to WebEx individual WG
sessions?

- Wes

If we were really going to do this, I would think that the way to do it
would be to make sure that participation in the meeting from
offsite was a satisfying experience. The IETF has gotten better at
this over time, but I still feel that if I don't show up in person,
I'll probably miss out on something. As networking geeks, I think it
is worth at least considering whether our technological expertise could
be bent to the service of this goal.
