Pity that the main meeting hotel's internet access failed this time. But when it works, the cost issue indeed diminshes. This is how it worked for me this week:
- MECC, any capacity and media I want - FREE
- Hotel room, any capacity I _need_ for my work, (incl. VoIP) - FREE
- Navigation to and at Maastricht - affordable ( <5 kb for GPS assistance data)
- Multimedia messages & SMS - affordable (a few euros to send home some SMSs and pictures)
- Voice calls outside of MECC or Hotel - Expensive

- Working over cellular connectivity outside of hotel and MECC - VERY EXPENSIVE

Yes, it would be nice to work outdoors in the shadow of an apple tree. And now we all know even better places with tables in the old town pedestrian area ;-)

But that's where the meter starts ticking too fast for me. Being const conscious forces us to usage patterns we might not choose otherwise, but I don't think the price of connectivity stops or even slows down our work.

Parking at MECC was expensive at 9.50 a day, but driving was my own choice, so I have got myself to blame for that.
