Why is this relevant?

For much of the equatorial world having yellow fever inoculations makes sense, but I have travelled extensively and no-one has ever asked to see my vaccination card.

And a while ago I went to a travel doctor and asked to be vaccinated for *everything* that he could. Took all of 20 minutes (and I got poked with a bunch of needles) but I personally think that that is a small price to pay for (even infinitesimally) upping the herd immunity level.

I had traveled for many years without vaccinations (with no ill effects), now I travel with some, because *I choose to*, not because it is required….

Basically, if you want to get vaccinated, go ahead, if you don't, don't… but using this as a reason to avoid traveling to a huge swath of the world is silly….

P.S: My views on vaccinations have been influenced by long discussions with Larry Brilliant -- if you ever get a chance to hear him speak on the eradication of smallox I highly recommend taking it.
