Assuming your ticket was booked as a single itinerary (SYD-DFW-YQB and return, or whatever the actual airports are) and not as multiple tickets, you don't really have anything much to worry about.  The airlines will protect you if you miss a connection.

If they are separate tickets, then you have much more to worry about.
