Qantas and Air Canada both use terminal D. But if you're taking an AC
flight with a four digit flight number like AC 5903, that's actually a
United flight that leaves from terminal E. Switching terminals at DFW is
the least of your problems, since there is an efficient airside
inter-terminal train.

Be sure you get your US ESTA before you leave, since you'll have to go
through US immigration and customs even though you're just changing
planes. Coming back from Canada, if you fly from Montreal or Toronto
you'll preclear US customs in Canada. If you fly from Quebec to a US
city, you'll clear US customs in the US. Either way, be prepared for two
rather long lines, one for customs, another for the redundant security
screening before you can go to the connecting gate.
