This is very often the case, yet almost never properly informed in 
TripAdvisor et al reviews.  Almost any hotel will have a range of 
reviews, from "Worst dump I ever stayed at!" to "Most luxurious place 
in the world."  Without knowing both the type of room (normal, 
deluxe, jr. suite, full suite, presidential suite) placement within 
hotel, and expectations/experience of reviewer (first tine stayed 
anywhere other than Motel 6 in Arkansas vs normally stay at Ritz 
Carlton) it's impossible to put a review into context.
