In no way the same situation, but...

I think the big issue is "models" - the device / software / product should
stand on its own merit, presented and discussed by engineers - I don't care
if they are men, women or small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri, they
should know the product and be able to answer questions about it.

The Turis device does stand on its own merits, and the folk who build it
are smart, good folk. This incident was a surprising lapse in judgment, not
(ime) par for the course.
