Hi Jordi and all,

This is Yixue from Tencent and I am from Yunfei’s team. Last year, I also participated some previous work related to network information exposure i.e. MoWIE. I am also working in 3GPP on cellular network architecture enhancements and network information exposure for cloud gaming and XR services etc.

Thanks for the encourage from Jordi for an I-Draft and we can do some further work on top of previous MoWIE draft and will submit before 114 meeting. We will also participate 114 meeting remotely. Hope to have more collaborations with you all.

To Kyle: We are also interested in your PBE-CC and NG scope papers, and hope we can have more discussions and collaborations.

Thanks a lot!
Br, Yixue from Tencent

Hi Yunfei and all,

Thank you very much for your productive presentations during the ALTO weekly meeting on 5/31 and for your note below. We discussed your work internally and we would like to encourage you to write an I-Draft. We would also like to suggest that you attend the IETF 114 meetings so we can discuss as a group your I-Draft. We also agreed that as you write the I-Draft, Kai and I would help you by providing guidance and feedback as necessary on behalf of the ALTO WG.

Please kindly make sure you are aware of the important dates: https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/114/important-dates/

Specifically, 7/11 is the cut-off date to submit new I-Drafts before the 114 meetings.

Thanks,
Jordi
On behalf of ALTO

Thanks for the notes. I agree with Qin's suggestions on moving forward the work. Yixue and Zhuoyun, would you please join the disucussion loop and give some input related to 3GPP? The synergy bw 3GPP and IETF, if possible, is very important when extending ALTO in cellular context.

BR
Yunfei

Hi all,

Many thanks Mahdi for taking the meeting minutes yesterday.

All, please find Mahdi's notes here and let us know if you'd like to add anything: https://github.com/ietf-wg-alto/wg-materials/blob/main/meetings-ietf-alto/ietf-alto-2022.md

Thank you all for participating in a very productive meeting. We look forward to continuing conversations on this important topic throughout the next weeks and as we go into the IETF 114 Meeting in July.

Regards,
Jordi on behalf of ALTO

Hi Kyle, Jen, Yaxiong,

We will use WebEx for the meeting tomorrow at 9 AM ET:
JOIN WEBEX MEETING
https://ietf.webex.com/ietf/j.php?MTID=ma0e97cc97c4cd71bb59cf1a094682686
Meeting number (access code): 2424 884 8159

The goal of this initial meeting is to explore feasibility. We will give a quick overview of the current ALTO information structure. Then we can discuss how your work may be exposed to applications using standards to maximize its impact. If you want to go over your work and the latest updates before the discussion, please feel free to do so. We target a total of 45 mins.

Below is a short email that we sent to the ALTO working group.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Richard

Hi ALTO group,

We will meet with the PBE-CC team (Kyle Jamieson, Jen Rexford, and Yaxiong Xie, all from Princeton) tomorrow at 9:00 AM US ET to discuss the possibility of exposing more network information for applications.

The direct relevant paper is:
https://arxiv.org/abs/2002.03475

Another related work:
https://dl.acm.org/doi/pdf/10.1145/3405672.3409489

One "grand" scheme is network information exposure from control channel, data channel, and control channel embedded in the data channel, e.g.,
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc8888/

The meeting info is at the bottom of this page.

Looking forward to see the design team and more tomorrow.
