So now we are back to registering something like application/senml-exi (in addition to senml+xml and senml+json) where the schema information is included in the media type registration and no content-encoding is used. This would work for the applications I know of right now (SEP2 and SenML). Do we need to write up some kind of information guideline draft for including this kind of information in the media registration when OOB info needs to be defined (not just for EXI, but in general)?

I'm thinking that a statement along these lines needs to go into
draft-ietf-appsawg-media-type-regs (whose WGLC ends today) -- in other
words, beef up the section on +suffix registration with text that helps
people better understand when a +suffix should be used, and when it
should *not* be used.

I'll work with Ned on that.
