Dear colleagues

At IETF106, we had an inofficial IETF106 side meeting on New-IP Research,
see https://trac.ietf.org/trac/ietf/meeting/wiki/106sidemeetings

If you are interested to continue or join the discussion,
we would like to invite you to a followup, this time via webex:

Meeting invite/info below.

Please contact us for comments and questions:
  richard.li@futurewei.com, tte@cs.fau.de

Thank you
    Toerless

Meeting
Title: New IP Architecture and Protocols Meeting
  Time: 03/25/2020, 08:00 - 09:00 AM PST [1500 - 1600 UTC] (extend to 9:30 if needed)
07:30 - 08:00 AM PST [1430 - 1500 UTC] Webex testing if you need it.
  Where: Webex (see below)

Agenda

The Internet Protocol (IP) has been used successfully in our times. But can it still support and implement emerging applications, industry verticals, and network infrastructural changes in the future? Some typical emerging applications include, but not limited to, industrial machine-to-machine communications, industrial control and manufacturing, driverless vehicles, and holographic type communications. The infrastructural changes include, for example, convergence and integration of satellite networks with terrestrial networks, ManyNets, and Industrial IoT.

This is the 2nd in its series of New IP Research Side Meetings with the following as the objectives:
- To share findings and observations about the Internet and its protocols regarding its fundamental weakness, incapability and vulnerability by its design.
- To explore the impacts of future applications to the IP architecture and protocols
- To investigate the implications of infrastructural changes for the IP architecture and protocols

1. Welcome (Richard Li) - 5 minutes
2. Forwarding Layer Problem Statement – (Stewart Bryant) – 30 minutes
            available at https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-bryant-arch-fwd-layer-ps-00
3. An Evolution of Network Control: from Earth to Space (Dan King) – 30 minutes
4. Next steps/wrap up (Richard Li) – 5 minutes

Q&A/Discussion
We think the meeting can be an informal side meeting without too much structure.
If you have a question to the attendees, please use the webex chat.
If you have questions to the presenter, please wait for times when presenter asks for questions/comments
As needed, we will use the IETF "+q" on the webex channel to form a question/comment queue
We suggest to direct followup discussions to architcture-discuss@ietf.org if you think it is of interest to the IETF.
