Having participated in the Bluetooth SIG myself I don't think it was malice but rather a lack of understanding of IP (and networking in general). As one can imagine, there is a lot of expertise in the SIG for topics that concern radio technology. Maybe there is a way to improve the interaction between the IETF and Bluetooth SIG. This is, however, not only a relevant issue for this ATLAS effort.
