Hi Everyone,

Work in the BABEL WG has slowed down a lot and we have only two documents
that I believe we are working on:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-babel-mac-relaxed/
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-babel-rtt-extension/
(The RTT draft is currently expired but should be re-activated.)
(There is also https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-babel-yang-model/
but the WG is finished with that draft and it is just waiting on a
normative dependency.)

Based on discussions the BABEL WG Chairs had with Andrew Alson, our AD, and
some of the active members of the WG, there is a tentative plan to close
the BABEL WG in about six months and probably add a "BABEL Maintenance"
item to the MANET WG Charter. Even if that were not done, future BABEL RFCs
could be done through AD sponsorship or through the Independent Submission
process. And the babel@ietf.org mailing list would very likely remain open.

If you have any big problem with this, please speak up.

Thanks,
Donald
