Eve and I have been brainstorming a bit about one of the potential edge compute gaps: discovery. There’s the potential for discovery of the aggregated data on the edge computing device(s), discovery of edge functionality, discovery of directories, etc. Attached is just a start in the discovery brainstorming. If anyone is interested in further pursuing this area with us please let us know especially if you have experience in this area. There may be existing protocols to do what we need, or there may be a gap. We may be able to write up a draft before Montreal if we hussle.

Below are the two drafts we are currently working off for this group.

Thanks,
mike

主题: Edge Computing Bar BoF in IETF 101

Dear colleagues,

Following some interesting discussions in IETF99 and IETF100, we are organizing another Bar BoF on the topic of Edge Computing in London.

The Bar BoF will be held on Wednesday (21st March ):
Meeting Time: 15:00-17:00
Meeting Room: Hilton Meeting Rooms 1-4

This time we will try to have more specific discussion on research interests for the purpose of identify gaps and problem space which could be done in IETF.

You may find the following draft a good summary of the outcome of previous Bar BoFs and new ideas to be discussion in London:

https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-geng-iiot-edge-computing-problem-statement/
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-zhang-iiot-edge-computing-gap-analysis/

We also encourage people to share insight of their related research work by giving talks in this event. If you feel like to do this, please contact me and discuss..

Talk to you soon in London!

Best wishes
Liang
