Sorry, can’t live with that.

As a protocol designer, I carry a deep conviction that when you create different ways to do the same thing, you'll pay dearly for that.  (Look at the discussion about preferred/deterministic encoding in RATS/COSE.  Duuh.)

As there is no strong (technical or political) reason to do this here, I would regard creating different ways to do the same thing as a professional error.
