[Cbor] Updated Drafts for dCBOR I-D and Gordian Envelope Structured Data Format I-D & IANA Tag Registration

Dear Community and Colleagues,

We would like to inform you of some significant updates made to the dCBOR
(Deterministic CBOR) and Gordian Envelope Internet-Drafts, which have been
recently submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

The first IETF Internet-Draft, “Gordian dCBOR: Deterministic CBOR
Implementation Practices,” offers specifications and guidelines for dCBOR
implementers. You can find the updated version of the draft at the

The primary updates include:

* Based on conversations within the CBOR working group list, the
requirement for map entries to be non-null has been removed.
* Based on feedback from Anders Rundgren, the requirement that
CBOR_NEGATIVE_INT_MAX be disallowed has been added.
* Based on other feedback from both the CBOR working group and IETF
Dispatch, the API recommendations have been moved to a dedicated section
and clearly marked “informative”.
* Based on community feedback, various other clarifications and corrections
have been made.

The second Internet-Draft (built leveraging the dCBOR specification) is
“The Envelope Structured Data Format,” which specifies the Gordian Envelope
format for structured binary data, designed to allow the transmission of
information in a privacy-centric way. The updated draft can be found here:

The primary updates include:

* The CBOR tags have been renumbered in preparation for IANA registration.
* A compressed case has been added.
* Based on community feedback, various other clarifications and corrections
have been made.
* We are also pleased to announce that in support of the Gordian Envelope
internet draft, we have submitted an application for the registration of
CBOR tags 200-206 to the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and
have received acknowledgment of our application.

We would be grateful if you could review these updated drafts and provide
your feedback. Your expertise and input are invaluable to us as we continue
to improve upon these drafts.

In particular, we are soliciting interest in scheduling meetings at IETF
117 in San Francisco on these topics.
