Reposting to CBOR mailing list as well. Thanks, -rohan ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Rohan Mahy <rohan.ietf@gmail.com> Date: Mon, Jun 10, 2024 at 10:59 AM Subject: New version of MIMI content with CBOR To: <mimi@ietf.org> I just submitted an -04 of mimi-content. This now has all the validated CBOR examples and has concrete multipart examples in an Appendix. https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-mimi-content-04.html Please have a look. I think we have a format which does what we need. There are three CBOR-related issues, with my thoughts about them. 1) tagging URIs. We could leave URIs untagged, or we could add the one-octet tag which would make them easy to recognize by generic CBOR libraries. I am a proponent of tagging in this case. 2) time format. We could use a fixed number of milliseconds for the timestamp, or we could use the CBOR extended time format (draft-ietf-cbor-time-tag currently in AUTH48) which would allow timestamps to vary the precision to microseconds or nanoseconds. This issue will probably move to mimi-protocol as this is a value conveyed outside mimi-content. https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-cbor-time-tag-12.html 3) Right now the "bodies" (NestedPart) have their own array, which results in pretty heavy nesting. We could replace this with a CBOR sequence or embedded CBOR. Thanks, -rohan
