Just to say I agree with your (chairs') call on this. I don't
think this is the place to develop or defend new ciphers.

There are lots of argument-winning reasons for that, but one
of those is that we all only have so many cycles to spend so
spending those bridging between Internet engineering and
academic cryptography that's already accepted by that
community is by far a better way to spend time in CFRG.
