Essentially: I believe you are right. The IETF is *not* a place to develop a
technology. This is maybe the place for research groups, but mostly the role
of pionnieers testing an idea and placing it on the market. Forget SSL, just
look at the web itself. We are just doing the right thing: let it develop
first, then cast the rules in concrete. The IETF played very little part in
actually developping the web...

Let be frank. If we adopt the procedures of ISO, there will not be long before
we become exactly as relevant. Each time I hear this fairness bureaucracy
crap, I feel I am just at the wrong place.
