My proposal for a "overall" statistic:

Better try to collect that data for a statistic with demos.

That's a statically located device (cellular, not moving), sending every
hour an application message with about 400 bytes. In 114 days, that's
about 2600 messages, 100 restransmission and results in
1384 k bytes sent and 186 k bytes received.

If someone likes to provide numbers for a TLS/TCP approach,
that would be very great.
