DetNet Data Plane Design Working Meeting Notes - IP Data Plane - 30May18
Present: Jouni, Lou, Janos, AndyM, Balazs, Ethan

Meeting topics and summary:
- For detailed notes please see the latest version in github.
- Looking at (and editing on the fly) draft-ietf-detnet-dp-sol-ip-00.xml in github.
- Remove outdated text and add notes what changes are needed
- Draft is focusing only on "simplified-IP", so material from Andy's draft has been incorporated into MPLS dp-sol.
- Still keep overview part in the first version.
- PROEF can be used within a subnet but not end to end (this does not preclude future work in this area).
- Not providing DetNet services for TSN end systems - only for IP and "DetNet Aware IP" end systems. Figure1 updated accordingly.
Link or subnet could be TSN or MPLS (or other in the future).
- Aggregation: Marked as topic for further study in case of Simplified-IP.
- In-order-delivery: Need wider discussion on this. Balazs will check arch document and come back regarding
this to the detnet list. (E.g., Can we spec bounds on how many packets can be out of order? Like we have
bounds on jitter? Maybe fast system can tolerate some but not a lot, but is useful to know this.)
- Delete DetNet bridging section, simplified-IP assumes DetNet routing service.
- Interworking function (DN-IWF) to be replaced with DetNet routing function (DN-RF)
- Class of Service section vs. Quality of Service. Keep general discussion here, but need to decide where
tech specific discussions go.
- Bidirectional traffic section going away.
- Time sync should be separate doc not part of data plane. In DetNet don't want to dive into specifying a profile.
Continue stance that timing is outside DetNet scope. (Both Lou personal opinion and current DetNet charter).

- Next DP IP working meeting: June 6, 7am PDT
