Report on DHCP testing at Connectathon96.
Server vendors:
Competitive Automation, Computer Associates,
FTP Software, IBM, Internet Software Consortium, Process Software, SGI, and
SunSoft.
Client vendors:
Apple, FTP Software, Competitive Automation, IBM, SGI, SunSoft, and TGV.
Day One: Basic DHCP testing:
INIT state
INIT-REBOOT state
RELEASE
Day Two: Basic/Advanced testing:
NAK (in INIT-REBOOT state)
Relay agent testing, NAKs thru relay agents.
Vendor Class support
DHCPINFORM
Day Three: Individual testing.
Protocol Spec Problems found:
Use of END Option not clear.
Comments: In general, testing went *really* well. Some vendors had not
been at DHCP bakeoffs before, and were successful testing their
implementations.
I think that proves the spec is definitely ready for draft, if not full
standard
status.
