Hi,

I know this question has been asked before but I don't think an
answer was posted. I am hoping someone can answer it (perhaps
someone from Novell).

What are the DHCP NetWare Options 62 and 63? I can't find them in the
latest DHCP Options draft but I believe they were described somewhere
before (perhaps in a different document). I am trying to find out
what are these NetWare options, syntax, values, etc.

I checked Novell's customer support database and this is what I found:

--------
ISSUE

Novell's DHCP server can be used to get Netware/IP client
information parameters eg. preferred DSS, nearest NWIP server,
NSQ_Broadcast .... When the client sends the DHCP request to our
DHCP server and a request for Netware/IP information is made, the
DHCP options field used are 62 and 63. According to RFC 1533 the
options field has a set of reserved options, ranging from 1 to 61
- Netware/IP is therefor using non documented numbers from RFC
1533. The main problem with this is that other vendors may use
these options for their own applications and a conflict may occur
eg. if HP laserjet printers use DHCP to boot over IP and reserve
options 62 or 63 for HP specific information, it may be that they
get NWIP information returned!

The issue here is that RFC
1533 forgot to include the NWIP tag information. The author has
been contacted and has promised to include it in the next draft.
---------

Can anyone point out to me where I can get more information
on these NetWare options?

Thank in advance.

Hank
