X-Comment: Discussion of DHCP for IPv4

Hi everybody,

I want to run a DHCP-Server on IBM AIX 4.2 and a lot of Win95 DHCP clients and I
got problems:

The very first time when a Win95 client gets his configuration from the AIX
everything is ok. Now I make some changes to my server's config-file, especially that the
client (defined by his MAC-Address) has to get another IP address, another hostname,
and another value for the DNS-Server. And this doesn't work !
The W95 client insists on his formerly achieved address.

Examing the packets shows following handshake:

Win95 Client AIX Server

Looks fine, but the Win95 obviously doesn't care about the OFFER and ACK and
changes nothing.

Has anybody any idea ?
Is anybody running this configuration (AIX-Server / Win95 Client) ?
Does anybody know something about these Vendor specific information used
by the Win95 clients ?

Any help welcome, thanks in advance
