  1) IPv6 DNS server machine died - not mission critical, won't be fixed
     immediately.

  2) IPv6 router that gets you there died.

  3) some new bug in bind9 means that it dies for IPv6 transport, but not
     for IPv4.

  All of these would result in me telling clients to try IPv4 first.

  Often, seeminly unreasonable configurations are the result of trying
to patch around a problem elsewhere.
