Bernie,

I am in favor of advancing this draft.

The current DOCSIS cable modem specifications mandate support for the
DHCPv4 version of this option. From Annex D.1.1 of
http://www.cablemodem.com/downloads/specs/CM-SP-RFIv2.0-I08-050408.pdf
(DOCSIS 2.0 RFI):

	* All CMTSes MUST support the DHCP relay agent information
option [RFC-3046]. Specifically, the CMTS MUST include the 48 bit MAC
address of the RF side interface of the CM generating or bridging the
DHCP discovery request in the agent remote ID sub-option field before
relaying the discovery to a DHCP server.

The existence of the Relay Agent Remote-ID option for DHCPv6 would
remove one obstacle for adoption of DHCPv6 in cable networks.

This internet-draft mentions one possible encoding of the remote-id
field in section 3: "a 'modem ID' of a cable data modem". Perhaps the
text ought to mention that the typical 'modem ID' used is the cable
modem MAC address. I would acknowledge, though, that this same
terminology is used in RFC 3046, which is widely implemented in DOCSIS
CMTS technology today.

There have been *NO* comments (either in favor or not) of this
draft. It
	is a very short draft!

As the WG last call expires at 1700 EST (USA) on 2005-07-20,
please
	respond!

	Thanks.

	<draft-ietf-dhc-dhcpv6-remoteid-00.txt>

This message announces a WG last call on "DHCPv6 Relay Agent
	Remote ID Option" <draft-ietf-dhc-dhcpv6-remoteid-00.txt>.
The last call will conclude at 1700 EST (USA) on 2005-07-20.

Please respond to this WG last call. If you support
acceptance of the document without change, respond with a
simple acknowledgment, so that support for the document can
be assessed. Lack of discussion does not represent positive
support. If there is no expression of support for
acceptance during the WG last call, the document will not be
	advanced to the IESG.

The draft draft-ietf-dhc-dhcpv6-remoteid-00.txt defines a new
Relay Agent Remote-ID option for DHCPv6. This option is the
DHCPv6 equivalent for the DHCPv4 Relay Agent Option's
Remote-ID suboption as specified in RFC 3046. The draft is
	available as
