mm... wasn't it better to ask folks to contribute, or poll whether
anyone was willing to review, rather than first opting to drop the I-D
before trying the other option first?

I agree. But that is the same for asking for a vague "hum to drop" when,
as noted a few times already the main technical comments 8from Lorenzo)
were bogus, and the other nits (from Tomek) simply require a tweak.
