Thanks Lixia.

I'm not sure, when you specifically mention "overlays", if you intended to disagree with my article or not. The article focused, in part, not just on layering, but also on the integration of some components of a relevant new design within the existing underlying infrastructure, and thus not relying on the so-called end-end phenomenon. Examples might include certain conferencing, distributed simulations or other multi-party applications - or use of mobile programs that might be managed much more efficiently that way.
