in tsvwg they are working on packetization layer path mtu discovery for datagram transports, whose primary audience seems to be quic and sctp. https://www.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url1=draft-ietf-tsvwg-datagram-plpmtud-19&url2=draft-ietf-tsvwg-datagram-plpmtud-21 noone who believes that DNS's future is going to be quic-based needs to read this document. however, anyone who sees a future in unencrypted UDP/53 using PMTU-sized IP packets may find it fascinating. -- Paul
