I'm curious did any of those browsers writers say anything about how this would be implemented?

My guesses are:

As a way that local defined DNS servers can offer DoH service ?
As a way to simplify configuration of DoH ?
Something else ?

Or, it's too soon and we can/should make suggestions as to the intent here.

    What happened to DRIU?  It seemed like there was an effort to work on the problem more generally.  But I see the DoT comment down-thread and wonder whether this is the right place for doing this sort of work.
