I'm not sure that I agree.
I'm hard pressed to point a device that will have a stable IP address
that won't also have a stable name.  It might be interesting to figure out
how we can do things like put "printer.local" into a certificate...

If only we had SPKI, then you could say:
   (tcd's stephen.farrell's printer)
