The IESG note at the start of RFC5050 *is* the formalnotification; the IETF has already washed their hands of it,CCSDS was already told, as were all readers.


done and dusted.

Given that warning, how the IETF can declare somethingit's already disclaimed to be obsolete is a puzzle to me.It's withdrawing an endorsement that was never there.

That all sounds right to me, as does obsoleting 5050.

One tweak though - at some point someone should check
(informally) if CCSDS need some formal notification
about this or not.
