Registration Operations Workshop 2015-1 is scheduled for Sunday, 22 March 2=
015 from 1230 - 1630 in the Continental Room at the Fairmont Dallas Hotel, =
the same venue being used for IETF-92. The event is not affiliated with the=
IETF meeting, but with IETF support we've been able to secure a room that'=
s large enough to host the event. Still, space is limited and seats are goi=
ng fast. Please register quickly if you haven't already done so. Registered=
attendees will receive updates via email as we get closer to the event dat=
e.

Verisign has set up a web site to provide information and allow people to r=
egister. We're asking people to register in advance so we can make appropri=
ate plans for space and refreshments. We're also using a mailing list to sh=
are information about the workshop. Subscription info can be found here:=20

https://lists.verisignlabs.com/mailman/listinfo/roa

This list name is "roa@lists.regiops.net". You must be subscribed to the li=
st to post and to view the list archives.=20
Remote participants are welcome! We're using WebEx to provide interactive a=
udio and video for remote participation. Please note if you're planning to =
participate remotely when you register, and join the mailing list to receiv=
e timely updates.

I'm very happy to note that the workshop is being co-sponsored by GoDaddy a=
nd Nic.br. We've also started the process of transitioning workshop managem=
ent functions to Viag=E9nie, a well-known Canadian consulting and R&D firm =
that specializes in advanced computer networking technologies. Thank you to=
GoDaddy, Nic.br, and Viag=E9nie for helping to make this workshop possible=
.

The agenda for the workshop is shaping up nicely. We're going to talk about=
the new RFC 7451, the "Extension Registry for the Extensible Provisioning =
Protocol". If you've developed an EPP extension for your registry this docu=
ment describes how you can register your extension with IANA and let others=
know it exists. This will eventually help our industry consider ways of re=
ducing duplication in EPP extensions, making it easier for registries and r=
egistrars to work together. That topic will conclude with demonstrations of=
extension requests being created and submitted to IANA.

Registration operations extend beyond EPP, and we're going to include two t=
opics that describe new opportunities for innovation in the domain name eco=
system. The first topic, led by Richard Barnes of Mozilla, will focus on th=
e Let's Encrypt initiative and the Automatic Certificate Management Environ=
ment (ACME) protocol. The second topic, led by Olafur Gudmundsson of CloudF=
lare and Jacques Latour of CIRA, will focus on a proposal for a new registr=
y access model to update delegation information.

The workshop will conclude with a discussion of EPP extension opportunities=
. This will help us organize our thoughts in advance of the EPPEXT working =
group meeting that takes place on Friday 27 March.=20
