This is not the case as has been discussed so far (in the document
posted by Steve/Zsolt as well as followup by me).
Index can be specified by the operation.
In the case index is not specified, the next available one is used.
How this is achieved or rules is discussed in those two documents.

I am sorry cant participate in the rest of the discussion because i
still dont see the differences. I would suggest we put a time limit to
this discussion so we can move to the big one which is data encoding.
Shall we say two weeks from now as the deadline?

Or maybe i should start the discussion on encoding in parallel?

cheers,
jamal
