I’m in general supportive of this direction and have wondered many times why we aren’t making more use of tools for easier minute taking. There are a couple of issues to consider in drafting this approach: Reasons for having some form of minutes in addition to the current video recordings of sessions 1. While recordings are made of IETF meetings those done at full IETF meetings currently are of high quality, but interim meeting often suffer from poor audio in the room and very poor video capture. So while recordings of meetings are available, they aren’t always an acceptable replacement for some sort of minutes. 2. IETF meeting recordings are published onto YouTube which is outside of the IETF’s control. While unlikely, situations where YouTube changes policies to something the IETF doesn’t like may impact the long term retention or access to those posted recordings. For instance, what if access to Europe is restricted due to some future change in distribution rules? Continuing to have some version of text capture of the meeting minutes gives a long term option for a backup alternative for IETF meeting activity capture. -glenn > On Oct 7, 2025, at 1:38 AM, Eric Rescorla <ekr@rtfm.com> wrote: > > Aargh: > https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-rescorla-auto-minutes-00.html > > -Ekr > > > On Tue, Oct 7, 2025 at 1:33 AM Eric Rescorla <ekr@rtfm.com <mailto:ekr@rtfm.com>> wrote: >> Greetings fellow gendispatchers, >> >> Have you ever taken minutes for a WG?
