In any case, it baffles me that people are thinking that sending an "unsubscribe" email to everyone in a mailing-list will somehow help them resolve their problem.

One click on the bottom of each email they no longer want to receive brings a web page that contains the email alias of the owners of this list.  How people cannot see that as a better target to their complaints than annoying *everyone*?
