I am inclining to see > it unknown. Good question. The RFC is not very explicit on this issue. For Sequent's implementation, I chose to make the hrDeviceStatus of a device with removable media be 'down(5)' when no media is installed. This doesn't feel great but I personally liked it better than 'unknown(1)'. When hostmib is revised, I hope this area will be clarified. > What is a capacity of floppy without media ? I see two > possibilities (a) 0, (b) max capacity of this drive. > I like 0 more. I return 0 for hrDiskStorageCapacity when there is no media in the device. I think zero accurately describes the capacity of the device at that time. ...Lou -- Louis F. Fernandez Sequent Computer Systems lfernandez@sequent.com Beaverton, OR 97006-6063
